Brown Eyes Or Blue?

Just finished this layout for the DD Ad Challenge. I've used two photos of Karen taken in 2008 which have been 'processed' in Photoshop so that her naturally blue eyes appear brown!
I used papers and journaling blocks from Hot Off The Press 'Vintage' range, and also used the papers to make lollipop flowers. There's a great tutorial for them on Coventry Ann's blog  http://coventryann.blogspot.com/2009/09/lollipop-flowers-tutorial.html
The layout has 3D elements that don't show very well on the main photo so there's a couple more below. The title is made with Making Memories white alphabet rub-ons. I love these rub-ons as they will go onto just about anything!

Talking of titles, as I seem to be, I would like to try American Crafts Thickers. Haven't got any yet as I'm trying to use up my current stash, but it's a line I really like the look of.
Do you have a favourite stash item for making titles? I'd love to know if there's something you wouldn't be without, or maybe, a different technique to try with items I already have! Also, I'm just plain nosey when it comes to crafting and how others achieve the lovely results they do! I'm a bit reluctant to ask individuals on their blogs how they achieved their title on a layout, and they might not reply anyway. But if I'm asking you here, and you choose to tell me, well, that's a good way of finding out!

  1. I always come back to doodling my titles. I go off and try stickers and hand cutting and what not... I always come back to the doodles and my white or black Sakura pens :)

Gorgeous lo - great photos. Those flowers are just lovely.

  2. This is a beautiful LO ...loved taking a close up view to see all the details.

My DD loves Thickers ...I just like them. I love rub-on letters but then it is some times hard to keep them straight lol Sticker also have their place but the most useful are bare chip board as you can paint them ...glimmer them ...cover them with what ever paper you fancy etc etc ...the only thing is they are not instant !! Is that any help lol??

  3. Thanks for your lovely comments ladies which are very much appreciated.
I'm not a confident doodler I'm afraid and the thought of doodling a title is very scary! I have blank chipboard letters but, as you say, they aren't instantly usable and I usually want the layout finished. However, the page I'm doing currently needs 'something bolder' so I'll give them a go - and try to be patient for once!

  4. I have an unhealthy obsession with alphabet stamp sets (27 and rising) and I love chipboard, stickers and I have a cricut with a clear leaning towards the alphabet cartridges. I think you should ask the blogger how she achieved her title...most will be flattered by your interest and am sure would reply. I'm with you on the dooling...will hand write my journalling, but never anything bigger!

Your LO is gorgeous..bet your daughter looks completely different with her 'real' blue eyes!
