Love Me, Love My Dog

Well the weather's been atrocious on the South Coast today, so what else could I do but get out my table and do some crafting? I'm glad I didn't have to travel anywhere today.
These photos are of the first Christmas after my husband and I got married (hence the sepia tones!) and I've been meaning to scrap them for a while. Remembering the main event of that Christmas Day, I decided to record it today on the layout. It was not a happy day for me and I ended up in tears. The journaling around the page tells the sorry tale:
All was going well. The guests had arrived: Mum, Dad and Great Aunt Hilda. It was the first time I had cooked Christmas lunch and wanted to impress everyone. I went into the kitchen to find King, Denis' dog, eating the chicken I had taken out of the oven, and the turkey gone too! So we had cold ham and all the trimmings!!
I used gold glitter spray and a masking technique for the date and also sprayed over the BasicGrey stickers which form the title.  I used a Papermania bauble stamp and gold ink to keep the 'gold theme' going. I'm afraid the photo doesn't really show how sparkly the layout is.
When I married my husband, I inherited his dog, King, too! Love me, love my dog, as they say. King was diagnosed with bowel cancer soon after that Christmas and it then became obvious why he had behaved the way he had when he had always been such a well-trained dog. Sadly, he was put to sleep the same day my husband was told the news. He was devastated because King had been his from a puppy and was over 12 years old. They had been inseparable.

WOYWW

Cheating again as my photos were taken last Saturday when I had the time to do some crafting!

When I get my crafting table out at weekends I need to have an idea in my mind what I'm going to be making. Then I can gather together the right equipment from the cupboards and take it into the Lounge. This concentrates the mind very well. Why then do I spot things on the table that have nothing to do with what I'm making? It's a puzzle.
Anyway, this week for Julia's WOYWW there's my Cuttlebug and scoring board on the fold-away table. And a project I was part-way through on my cutting mat. There's some photos, old and new, and a tin containing tubes of acryllic paints - I needed the black paint for the project I was working on. See what I mean about getting stuff out that I don't actually need - why is there a spritzer bottle on the table? I have no idea!

My camera case is perched on the sofa and there's lots of papers and stuff on the sofa too. I'm not a tidy worker, and as I have to put it all away in the cupboards after a crafting session anyway, I don't feel I need to be. No-one sees the mess I make - except you crafty bloggers of course!

What To Do On A Rainy Sunday?

At the risk of being boring, I've made two more metal-effect frames. As soon as Jenni saw the last one she requested I make one for her boyfriend's birthday. Having made one for her, I couldn't leave out Karen, now could I?
There's a photo Karen rescued from an old broken frame which has been on my pinboard for a while, waiting for Inspiration as to what to do with it. The photo's damaged due to her gluing it into the old frame when she was about 7 years old! But it's the only one we have to record her holding a falcon when they visited her primary school - now it has a new home to keep it a while longer.
That makes three parcels to post tomorrow!
The light today has been very bad for crafting due to it raining all day. I've given up early and the crafting table and it's contents are all stowed away in the cupboard for at least another week. (Of course I've already taken a sneaky photo for WOYWW in a few days' time!)
So, with idle hands I need something to do. Hmmm.
It's lucky I went to the Library yesterday - I think there's a good book calling me!
